Carpenter Bees

As the temperatures warm up many of us encounter these busy bees. They’re big, noisy, and fly unusually close to our faces compared to other bees. However, carpenter bees’ biggest threat to humans is not their sings, but a much more inconspicuous concern. In fact, only the female carpenter bee is equipped with a stinger and is rarely used. Where the main concern lies is their ability to bore holes into wooden structures. You may have seen these bees entering the small entrances in the wood, but did you know that the galleries average six inches long and can be ten feet long? While a couple bees may not cause any structural damage, many bees attacking a piece of wood over several years warrants major concern.
